With the rapid development of data services, the bandwidth requirements of the transmission network are becoming increasingly high. The traditional PDH or SDH technology, which uses a single wavelength for optical signal transmission, is a great waste of optical fibre capacity, as the bandwidth of optical fibre is almost unlimited compared to the single wavelength channels currently utilised. It not only significantly increases the capacity of the network, but also makes full use of the broadband resources of the optical fibre, reducing the waste of network resources.
